The warehouse kept outgrowing what we ran it on.
fuilfl. runs a warehouse, and has done for years — picking, packing, shipping and taking stock back for ecommerce brands. What has changed is what we run it on. Each time the operation outgrew its tools, we built the part that was holding it back.
We started the way every 3PL starts.
We licensed a warehouse system, the same choice almost every 3PL makes, and the right one at the size we were then. It handled the ordinary work and left the awkward work alone.
You only find the edges of a system by working it every day. The bigger the operation got, the more of them we found — and every one of them was somebody else’s to fix.
Rented from a vendor · returns barely covered
Returns were the obvious place to start.
Outbound is what every warehouse system is built around. Returns arrive without warning, often without paperwork, sometimes in somebody else’s box, and need a judgement made on each item — and that was the work we had least support for.
So returns are where we started: filmed inspection, condition grading, and a way to match a parcel back to its order when the customer has sent it with no label at all. That software became reitrn. It is still the part we are best known for, and it is what we run returns on today.
Returns rewritten in-house · the rest still rented
Then the rest of the floor followed.
reitrn worked, and it kept working. Clients started asking for things, and for the first time the answer could be yes.
Goods in, stock, picking, packing and despatch now run on our own software too, built by our own software team. It still changes most weeks, which is the part that matters — the warehouse is not finished, and is not meant to be.
Every stage ours · no licence
Why any of that matters to you.
Not because owning software is impressive — plenty of 3PLs call themselves tech-led. Because of what it changes about dealing with us.
We were the customer first
Every complaint a brand has about a 3PL’s system, we have had about ours. We are not guessing at the problem.
Nothing in the stack we cannot change
If your account needs something the warehouse does not do yet, that is a conversation rather than a refusal.
No licence fee inside your rate
We are not paying a vendor per order and quietly passing it on to you.
Your data is yours
It goes in, and it comes out with you if you ever leave.
Who you would actually be dealing with.
We are small, and we take clients on selectively. That is a real constraint — we turn work away, and we would rather do that than accept volume we cannot process properly.
It is also why a question about one of your orders reaches the person who packed it rather than a support queue, and why you can come and stand on the floor and watch your own stock being handled. Most brands never take us up on that. The offer is open regardless.
If you want to know whether we are any good, the fastest way is to ask a brand already shipping through us. We will put you on the phone to one.
Come and have a look.
A call, a site visit, or four weeks of real orders — whichever tells you what you need to know.
